Fresh Water for Community of 36,000

The Voznesens’k community, with a population of 36,000, is located 30 km from the South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant. In March 2022, Voznesens’k bravely withstood intense pressure from Russian forces, but the community has been consistently subjected to enemy shelling. Numerous rocket attacks have damaged over 700 residential buildings, with 14 completely destroyed.

During these hostilities, critical infrastructure has suffered significantly. Damage was reported to 5 schools, 3 kindergartens, children’s playgrounds, a dormitory, shops, libraries, a territorial center for social services, administrative buildings of the communal water supply enterprise, and a sewage pump station. The rural outpatient clinic was completely destroyed. Other essential infrastructure, such as gas pipelines and power grids, also faced severe damage.

As active combat continued in the south, Voznesens’k became a frontline city, providing shelter for internally displaced persons, particularly from the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions. The influx of displaced individuals further strained the community’s critical infrastructure, leading to insufficient provision of drinking water through the existing sewage and water supply networks.

In response to this crisis, and with the generous support of our partners from DiamondBack Energy, as well as assistance from @spivdiia and @theworldorphanfund, we have taken significant steps to address the water scarcity. We successfully drilled two water wells in the settlements of Rakove and Novohryhorivka, each with a total flow rate of 11 m3/hour.

These wells will provide a much-needed supply of clean drinking water, alleviating some of the community’s most pressing needs. Our efforts are a testament to the resilience of the Voznesens’k community and the power of collective action in times of crisis.

We remain committed to supporting Voznesens’k and other affected regions. Together, with the continued support of our donors and partners, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those impacted by the ongoing conflict.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Your contributions are vital in helping us bring relief and hope to communities in need.
