Fueling Safety: 48 Generators and 25,200L Fuel for IDP Shelters in Dnipropetrovsk Region

Powering Safety: Delivering Generators to IDP Shelters Across Ukraine

As winter tightened its grip across Ukraine, thousands of displaced families sought refuge in overcrowded shelters—many of which lacked basic access to heat, electricity, and clean water. For those who’ve already lost their homes, livelihoods, and loved ones, such conditions are more than just uncomfortable—they are life-threatening.

In response to this urgent need, Bird of Light Ukraine, together with The World Orphan Fund and Diamondback Energy, launched a major initiative to restore dignity and safety to these vulnerable communities. We delivered 48 high-capacity generators, ranging from 7kW to 60kW, along with 25,200 liters of fuel, to shelters across the Dnipropetrovsk region.

These generators are now powering emergency shelters for displaced persons—including children, seniors, and people with disabilities—ensuring stable access to electricity and heat for an estimated 12,000 people each year. From lighting and heating to cooking and charging critical medical equipment, this energy is more than a convenience. It’s a lifeline.

One shelter director told us, "When the generator started, I saw people smile for the first time in days. It’s not just warmth—it’s hope."

This project represents our ongoing belief that humanitarian aid should not only address survival but restore dignity. By delivering power, we’re helping families regain a sense of safety, comfort, and normalcy amid the chaos of displacement.

Thank you to our partners and donors for making this possible. Your support fuels more than generators—it fuels hope.
