Restoring Critical Infrastructure at the Regional Family Health Medical Center in Dnipro
We’re pleased to share the latest update on our water supply project at the Regional Family Health Medical Center in Dnipro. This important initiative is focused on restoring a reliable and secure water system at a hospital that plays a critical role in caring for vulnerable patients, including pregnant women, children, and those injured by conflict-related events.
In the wake of recent challenges—most notably the catastrophic impact of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station incident—our region has seen firsthand how essential resilient infrastructure is. The damage to the water systems has disrupted critical services, emphasizing the urgent need to reinforce and modernize these facilities.
Our team has been hard at work at the hospital, where the restoration process has involved painstaking manual labor. With hidden underground utilities such as electrical cables, communication lines, gas pipes, and uncharted concrete ducts, machinery simply couldn’t be used safely. Although what might typically take only a few days with heavy equipment has extended over two months, every meter of trench dug is a crucial step toward a safer, more dependable water supply.
This project is made possible thanks to the generous support of the World Orphan Fund and Diamondback Energy, whose contributions have been key in advancing our work. Their commitment to the well-being of communities in need has helped ensure that the hospital can continue serving approximately 25,000 inpatients and 241,000 consultation beneficiaries annually.
At Bird of Light Ukraine, our ongoing efforts to repair and enhance critical infrastructure reflect our broader mission to support the people of Ukraine. We are grateful for the continued support from our partners and community, and we look forward to sharing further updates as we progress.
Thank you for standing with us as we work to secure essential services and improve lives, one project at a time.
